                    VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT (1 POSITION)

1. Purpose of the position

• The incumbent of the this position will undertake a range of activities, including both technical and non-technical in their role of supplying, managing and maintaining ground and surface water resources that are potential in terms volume and quality. Ensure portable water supply coverage under the directives made by the director general the director will manage water related conservation activities to promote adequate clean water in the region.

2. Duties & Responsibilities

• Designing overall schemes, such as sewer improvement schemes or flood defense programs, and associated structures, such as pumping stations, pipe work.
• Ensure an appropriate indicator of clean water is defined through monitoring of water quality and quantity.
• Coordinate implementation of water monitoring protocols and produce associated monitoring reports.
• Support the agricultural specialists and water committees to ensure optimal use of available water.
• Develop strategic water supply expansion ( pipe networks, tap stands and storage tanks)
• Coordinate water supply operations during drought seasons
• Coordinate site engineering assessment.
• Design evaluation methodology for date collection
• Develop evaluation matrix
• Carry out field visits in the matter of water engineering
• Coordinate and train enumerators
• Draft water engineering proposals and share with the ministry management
• Maintaining awareness of current environmental issues.
• Ensuring that projects keep to budgets and timescales.
• Managing and maintaining water and sewerage infrastructure operations.
• Administering contracts and ensuring that work is completed to deadline.
• Supervising the operation and maintenance of water and sewerage infrastructure.
• Monitoring flood levels at times of high risk.
• Managing staff, technicians and site workers.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports as directed by the management
• Carry out any other duties as assigned by the management

3. Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor Degree in hydrology, geology, geography, geo-technology/geophysics, mechanical engineering, environmental science or civil engineering is essential.
• 4 years experience in the same field.
