JOB TITLE : Curriculum Director

  1. Purpose

Reporting to the Director General, the curriculum Director will be responsible for the design, planning and monitoring of all Education programs, and contribute to the overall programmatic and methodological development of education activities in Jubaland, support in the planning the syllabus and implementation program for state teacher capacity building program within the region and establish maintain contacts and build a working relationship with education program managers, Directors other implementing partners and the local District education officials in promoting state education activities. The curriculum Director is required to build a culture of professionalism, respect and integrity to ensure a positive working environment, acknowledging the responsibilities of Ministers and supporting managers to make evidence-based decisions. The officer is responsible for ensuring that management decisions are free from nepotism, patronage and that are seen to be based on merit.  He / she is expected to act truthfully, fairly and in the public interest in addition to creating and maintaining stakeholder confidence through leadership which fosters and promotes ethical, decision making is a key element of this position.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities

As the Curriculum Director at Ministry of education, ensure the performance of the following functions of the Ministry as set out in its establishing acts are achieved.

  • Review, assess and update the education situation in areas affected by emergency
  • Provide weekly and Monthly progressive reports to the emergency education department
  • Networking and building professional relationships with members of the institution and the community.
  • Monitoring the progress of new and existing teaching methods.
  • Closely evaluating results at the end of each quarter and writing up progress reports.
  • Supervising all faculty recruitment and vetting prospective teachers.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and scheduling workshops for new and existing staff.
  • Establish and maintain staffing data in the institution and advice on recruitments, transfers, deployment and posts for Administrators
  • Provide leadership in mentoring and coaching of directorate staff to inspire and motivate staff
  • Supervises the training of special education instructional assistants for the purpose of assuring well-trained personnel
  • Implements conflict resolution skills in a variety of situations with staff, families, and the community.
  • Develops proposals, new programs, budgets and grants for the purpose of meeting the
  • District’s Strategic Plan and goals
  • Support in the recruitments, supervises, and evaluates District-level special education staff
  1. Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Education Teaching programs
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working directly with education institutions
  • Experience in Education administration and curriculum development
  • Master’s degree in Education and 2 years’ experience in education curriculum is added advantage

  • The ability to provide leadership, direction and motivation to the Ministry of Education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, including the ability to effectively work with and support the members of a team and work collegiately in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • High standards of ethical behaviour and integrity.
  • Ability to identify, analyse and solve complex issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
