  1. Purpose of the position

The incumbent will provide Air operation services, by ensuring safe takeoff and landing of commercial and military aircrafts in the airport under the guidelines of the Kismayo airport authority.

  1. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement airfield safety procedures to ensure a safe operating environment for personnel and aircraft operation.
  • Manage wildlife on and around airport grounds.
  • Assist in responding to aircraft and medical emergencies.
  • Coordinate with agencies such as air traffic control, civil engineers, and command posts to ensure support of airfield management activities.

  1. Purpose of the position
  • He/she will be responsible for providing support to air traffic controllers in both tower and radar environments, contributing to safe and efficient operations.
  1. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the allocation of stands for aircraft parking.
  • Keeping radio and radar contact with aircraft.
  • Directing the movement of aircraft en route or at an airport.
  • Instructing aircraft to climb or descend and allocating final cruising level.
  • Providing information to aircraft about weather conditions.
  • Making sure that minimum distances are maintained between planes.
  • Handling unexpected events, emergencies and unscheduled traffic.
  • Maintain the daily information in flight briefing area and the checking and transmission of flight plans
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of flight planning procedures
  • Maintain supplies of all forms and documentation held by Air Traffic Control
  • Display and update seasonal schedule, telephone and Code lists
  • Carry out standard checks to ensure procedures are being followed correctly.
  • Controlling movements on and off runways.
  • Handling the ground movement of planes around the terminals.
  • Handling the ground movement of vehicles around the airport.
  • Undertake any other duties of a similar responsibility level as may reasonably be prescribed from time to time.
  1. Qualifications and Experience
  • Certificate in Aviation Management or other relevant field
  • Preferable certificate in aeronautical or air traffic controller.
  • 2 year work experience in same field.

  • Ensure vehicle comply with minimum operations of security standards such as road safety measures.
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance such as oil and proper greasing, water, batteries, brakes and maintain minor repairs.

  • This position is a support position within the corporate service in the ministry. It has the responsibility of assisting the entire ministry by the necessary cleaning assistance needed.
  1. Responsibilities and Duties
  • Clean, dust and mop office floors by using a variety of equipment and supplies
  • Ensure that cleaning liquids are mixed in correct and safe quantities
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets and make sure that they are dried out before the day begins
  • Wipe down desks and chairs and make sure that stubborn smears are removed using appropriate cleaning materials
  • Empty trash cans and ashtrays and make sure that all trash is properly disposed off
  • Clean and wash down windows and ensure that they are dried properly
  • Cook refreshment tea for the ministry staff if requested by the management.
  • Ensure that the office kitchen and equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Wash down restrooms and ensure they are sanitized properly
  • Replenish towels, soap and toilet paper in bathrooms on a regular basis
  • Wash toilet and bathrooms on a regular basis
  • Wipe down walls, doors and wall hangings using appropriate types of cleaners and cloth
  • Apply sealant to floors
  • Ensure proper cleanliness of the areas around the office such as walkways and parking lots
  • Move around heavy equipment and furniture for the purpose of storage or rearranging
  • Make sure that office is locked properly at the end of the day.
  • Plant and water flowers and trees with in the compound of the ministry.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the management.
